Frequently Asked Questions

Who can and can’t get tattooed?

It is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18.
All clients must provide valid photographic identification in the form of a passport or photo driving licence. Parental or guardian consent does not override the law.

Clients must arrive sober. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be refused treatment.

Tattooing is not permitted if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as this may pose health risks to both you and your baby.

If you are unwell, recovering from surgery, preparing for surgery, or experiencing significant physical or emotional stress, tattooing is not advised and your appointment may be postponed.

Clients with compromised immune systems (including, but not limited to, diabetes, hepatitis, or HIV) may experience delayed healing. In such cases, medical authorisation from a doctor may be required prior to treatment.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone displaying aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate behaviour. All clients are expected to treat staff and other clients with respect.

Where’s best to park?

Limited parking is available directly outside the studio and is ideal for short visits such as consultations. This parking is free for up to one hour with no return.

For longer visits, there are two pay-and-display car parks located just a short walk from the studio:

Farncombe Station Car Park – approximately a 3-minute walk
North Street Car Park – approximately a 3-minute walk

What should I bring to my consultation appointment?

You’re welcome to bring your own artwork, reference images, or ideas to your consultation – these help us design a custom tattoo tailored specifically to you. The more references you bring, the better.

Personal drawings may need to be adapted or reworked to ensure they are suitable for tattooing and will heal and age well on the skin.

At your consultation, please let us know about any health conditions or medical concerns that you feel may affect your ability to be tattooed or the healing process.

How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Please moisturise the area to be tattooed using AVEENO moisturising lotion twice daily for 1–2 weeks before your appointment, depending on how dry your skin is. Well-hydrated skin is easier to tattoo, improves comfort, and may help reduce discomfort during the process.

If the area is hairy, please shave it before your appointment and arrive having had a shower.
Please avoid excessive use of deodorant, aftershave, or strong fragrances, as these can be overpowering when tattooing close to the body.

It’s important to eat within two hours before your appointment. Stable blood sugar helps support your immune system and allows your body to better manage the natural endorphins released during tattooing.
For longer sessions, we recommend bringing snacks with you.

No alcohol for at least 8 hours before your appointment.

Appointment Timing

Everyone’s time is valuable, and we work to a tight schedule. Please arrive on time for your appointment — not significantly early or late.

If you expect to be more than 10 minutes late due to traffic, parking, or other delays, please contact us as soon as possible by phone, email, or social media.

If you arrive 30 minutes or more late, we reserve the right, in line with our Terms & Conditions, to cancel the appointment and retain the deposit.

Can I use numbing cream?

Yes, you may use numbing cream. Please be aware that once the numbing effect wears off, the sensation can feel significantly stronger than normal.

If you choose to use numbing cream, please ensure it is applied exactly according to the manufacturer’s instructions to achieve the best results and avoid skin irritation.

How do I look after my tattoo?

You will be given an after care sheet but if you have misplaced it you can view it here.

Deposits

By paying a deposit, you agree to the following:

No deposit, no booking. Appointments are only confirmed once a deposit has been received.
All deposits are non-refundable.
Deposits are taken to secure the appointment date and artist preparation time only and will be deducted from the final tattoo price.
If you wish to change or reschedule your appointment, a new deposit will be required to secure the new date.
Deposits cannot be transferred to a different appointment date unless agreed at the discretion of the studio owner.
Deposits cannot be transferred to another person’s appointment.
Deposit amounts are typically £50–£100, depending on the size and complexity of the tattoo.
Day session appointments require a £150 deposit.
